“Colophon” comes from the Greek word “κολοφων” or "kolophon," which means "summit" or "finishing touch." It is a description of the details and methods behind a publication and is often found on the last few pages of books.

Typography

The Pastoral logo is set in the Papyrus typeface. The primary navigation for the site uses Knockout 69 Full Lite Weight. This site also utilizes @font-face tags to enable unique typography on the web. Titles and subheadings use League Gothic, a free typeface originally designed by Morris Fuller Benton in 1903 and available from The League of Moveable Type. Body text for the site is set in Helvetica Neue.

Design

Neoteric Design designed and developed the redesign of Pastoral in the Spring of 2011. Neoteric redesigns websites with a focus on customer needs, site goals, ease of use and engaging design.

Technical

Illustrator, Photoshop, and TextMate were used in the creation of this site. The site runs on Ruby on Rails and content is maintained using Refinery CMS. It is authored using HTML5, and complies with web standards as set by the W3C. The e-commerce sections run a highly-customized version of Magento.
